Based in Glastonbury, we are ethical breeders of champion pedigree alpacas, Valais Blacknose Sheep and Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys.

What do we do?

We no longer offer farm visits, events or walks as we have retired from alpaca breeding after 12 amazing years. We are now moving towards the Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys and the Blacknose Valais Sheep and will spend this year building our herd and flock, ready to launch in 2023. We therefore ask that no further enquiries are made regarding events, walks, welfare, breeding, fleece sales and any other enquiries alpaca related. We do not have any donkeys or sheep for sale at this time so would respectfully ask that no sales enquiries are made at this point. We will advertise as soon as we are ready to share these wonderful animals with the world!

Our Story

Ever tried to flee earthquakes with alpacas? Not an easy mission, but that is what we had to do! Having moved to New Zealand for the dream lifestyle we found ourselves living through a nightmare in the epicentre of the deadly Christchurch earthquakes. When they reached 10,000 aftershocks we decided enough was enough, but by then we had acquired a few alpacas who simply couldn’t be left behind… 11,617 miles and now a herd of over 50 alpacas later here we are.

Why do we keep alpacas, Blacknose Valais Sheep and Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys?

Woolly Mammals use the magical fibre of the alpacas to create quality and luxurious products in an ethical, professional and friendly way. We believe that each alpaca brings a special quality to the end products we produce, as well as being fun and exciting to work with along the way. Over the years we have become passionate about rare and interesting breeds of animals and have a small flock of Valais Blacknose Sheep that are friendly, docile, produce a hard-wearing yarn and most importantly have been named “the cutest sheep in the country”. The Miniature Donkeys have made their way into our hearts too with their stoic and loyal personalities, as well as being now extinct in their original country.
